I live with my husband Clint and our two sweet boys. We have been married for going on seven years. Jesse is five years old and Jack is almost three. I am a busy, happy gal. Clint teaches 6th grade and I am a working-from-home mom. We have enjoyed living in Waterfall, KZN for just over four years and now we are soon to embark on an exciting move to Pietermaritzburg on the 1st June - eek!
While I try to sneak in some quiet time, it is rarely quiet for long. As my leg is being pulled by a boy with chubby cheeks or while I am being ambushed by his big brother pleading with me to take him on a bike ride around the block, I often find myself longing for just a few more precious minutes. It's a silly thing to do really - in the end, loving them fills my heart more than any project could. I would often say to Jesse when he was a little smaller... "Just five more minutes my love" or "Just one more minute and I am coming to help you..." One day, after being asked to pack away his toys, the cheeky monkey turned around and said "Just four more minutes mom". The rest is history!
I am a born-again Christian. Not to sound cliche, but Jesus really is at the centre of it all for me. I was born & raised in Zimbabwe for 15 years, California for 8 years + Mauritius for a year. I met my South African husband on the island. I am 186cm tall and wear a size 9 shoe. I am practically a giraffe. I launched Love Long Length in July 2014 - a clothing line that caters to tall women in South Africa. It has grown in leaps and bounds and I am grateful to feel very passionate about what I do. It seriously doesn't feel like a job 90% of the time.
My husband and I have a pretty tight (read: non-existent) decor budget to work with. We are always looking for cost-effective, do-it-yourself ways to make our home beautiful. Our new home in Pietermaritzburg is one from our dreams and we can't wait to get stuck into making this space our own. I am also crazy in love with organization. My happy place is sitting on the floor with an emptied drawers and piles of papers and nik naks to sort through. This usually takes place at about 11pm!
I am an open book. Sometimes to a fault! Those who wear their heart on their sleeve know how hard it can be to so vulnerable. If I feel that something I have lived / cried / laughed through will encourage someone else, there is no holding me back from sharing it, but it's also not always easy hearing the other side of an opinion. I have talked about my struggle with postpartum depression and although I am out of the woods, I do still find myself having low-energy low-mood days and I hope to share in a post soon about how I have found natural ways to cope with this.
Gosh, so much to say! I'll leave you rather start scrolling through these little snippets of our lives! Thank you for stopping by - I hope that you will leave inspired...
